We’re incredibly proud of the strong and growing women’s & girls’ section at the club.
For many years, girls have been getting involved through our Dynamos and All Stars programmes, as well as our ever-popular summer holiday club. These fun holiday sessions have been the perfect introduction to cricket and even helped spark the creation of our very first U11 girls’ team a few years ago! Our “Have a Go” competition also played a big part in forming our fantastic ladies’ team.
Fast forward to today, and we’re now running an u11s team, under 15s and 2 ladies teams, and the ladies have warmed up for the upcoming season with games in the indoor league.
Across all our teams we’ve experienced great success league wins and increased numbers. Our current u15s in even progressed through to the semi-finals of the national Vitality T20 cup in 2024!
One of the things we love most is how connected our section is. We encourage younger players, when they’re ready, to train and play alongside the ladies, which is such a great experience for everyone. Even better, some of our ladies players regularly support coaching for the U11s and U15s, creating a really supportive, one-club feel.
The main focus of our section though is the promotion of women’s & girls cricket and creating a great environment for them to participate in what has traditionally been seen as a men’s sport. We have great relationship with the men’s section and they support us fully – it really is a whole club effort!
We’re always on the lookout for new players - whether you’re completely new to cricket or looking to sharpen your skills, you’ll be very welcome. It’s all about fun, friendship, and a bit of fitness along the way.
And if you fancy getting involved behind the scenes with coaching or helping out, we’d love to hear from you too!
