ECB Online "Basics of umpiring" course 
This interactive online course is intended to provide an introduction to umpiring. 
 
ECB "Intro to umpiring" course (newer umpires only) 
These courses are mainly aimed at umpires who haven't yet been on an umpiring course, and who don't have a "grade" under the new ECB Umpire Pathway. They are designed to give new umpires the key skills, knowledge and confidence to stand as an umpire in cricket. No prior experience of umpiring in cricket is required before attending the course. 
 
The winter 2025/26 courses in the YPLN area have now all happened. More will be arranged in future and details put here.

YCF/YPLN umpire courses 
YPLN and YCF work together to arrange various courses for existing umpires, which can be found using the following links: 
 
Module A course - Sunday 22nd and 29th March (2 day course) @ Driffield Town CC (YO25 6TT) 
Module A is suitable for those experienced umpires who may wish to become Premier League panel umpires. This Module doesn't look at the Laws as a good knowledge of them is a pre-requisite, but instead looks at Regulation interpretation, disciplinary report writing, Penalty time calculations, effective performance, match management, and how to manage players behaviour. Module A will definitely assist an umpire in making the transition from M4/W4 to M3/W3. 
 
Refresher courses for existing umpires 
These one-day refresher sessions are designed for experienced/qualified umpires who are already active in umpiring. These 'nets for umpires' are ideal to get warmed up for the upcoming season whilst also looking into the more technical aspects of the Laws (the minutiae or the nuances). There is no cost at the point of entry and tea/coffee is usually provided.
