REGISTERING AS A YPLN UMPIRE ON "WHO'S THE UMPIRE"
"Who's The Umpire" (WTU) is a system used by the league to allocate neutral panel umpires to matches. Registering with WTU is only necessary if you may wish to make yourself available for appointments as a YPLN neutral panel umpire. Registering does not commit you to anything, and will also mean that you get relevant league communications to the umpire panel which may be of interest.
Stage 1
Click “Register” in the top right corner
Select Cricket as the sport, and Officiating as the role, and enter your email address.
Enter the verification code that will be sent to your email address
Choose Yorkshire Premier League North (NOT Yorkshire Premier League) as the Organisation
Complete the details required underneath (you must write something of at least 8 characters in the "Comments" box or it will not let you proceed – just put “Registering as umpire” if you like)
Press Proceed
A league official will then authorise you and you will get an email instructing you on how to set a password
Stage 2
Once you have the email above, go back to https://www.whostheumpire.com/index.php and press “Log In”
Assuming this is the first time you have done this, enter your email address, leave the password section blank, select “Cricket” as the sport, tick the box, and then click on the “Forgot or need a password” blue link. From the menu that appears select “Forgot or need a password”. This will send a link to your email with a button that you click on to set up a new password. Once you have done this, go back and log in using your new credentials.
Familiarise yourself with the menu items to the left. If you click on your name for example, your own details should appear. You can then click the “Amend this record” icon to make changes, with the exception of your DBS which can only be input by an administrator.
In particular, take a look at the Contact Availability menu item on the left. Find your own name in the “Contact” box, select “YPLN” as the organisation and press “Search” and a calendar will come up. For each month, there is a little “Click to amend this record” button on the left. Clicking this allows you to edit your availability by selecting “All day” on the dropdown menu for any days when you can do a game (or just selecting the green "tick"). You can do this one day at a time, or for all Saturdays in a month, or for an entire month.
Once all members have shown their availability for the season and the fixtures are entered then appointments will be generated by the umpire appointers. You will then receive your appointments by through the WTU System.
When you receive the appointments, (via email from the WTU system) you will need to accept or decline each individual appointment given. Please do this by following the instructions included in the email advising of the appointments.
You will be able to see your full appointments list by logging in to the system at any time and selecting the “Appointments” menu item. If you click “Fixtures” you can select the relevant league/division and see what games are on, and who has been appointed to them.
