Cup update - w/c 16th June
Last week saw some key cup fixtures decided, and the first two matches in the new YPLN Hundred competition.
In the Hundred, Osbaldwick (Championship) beat York 2s (Prem 2) by 54 runs, including the 15 bonus runs awarded to them for playing a team from the division above them. Carlton Towers (Prem 2) beat Bilton-in-Ainsty (Championship) by 20 runs. All the teams seemed to enjoy the new format, especially the rapid pace at which they got through the overs, which is particularly beneficial for evening cricket. There are six more Hundred matches over the next week.
In the Division 1 Readman Trophy five quarter final spots were booked. Arthington 1s, who joined YPLN from the Nidderdale league this year, continued their run of dominant performances in league and cup matches, exceeding Drax 1's total with a ruthless 143 runs in 10.2 overs. Scalby gave Bridlington 2s similar treatment, restricting them to 86 and then reaching that in 11 overs. Scarcroft, Middleton & North Dalton and Hull Zingari 2s also went through after much tighter games.
In the Dave Conner Trophy (Division 2) Rufforth & Marston scored 143 and then bowled Dunnington out for 77 to book a quarter final place.
We now know what both semi-final fixtures in the Division 3 Wilberfoss Cup will be. Middleton 2s will face Kelfield, after both won their quarter-final fixtures. In the other semi-final, former Scarborough Beckett League club Forge Valley will welcome Woodhouse Grange 4s.
