Cup Report 14th July
By Matt Harris
Sunday saw the Finals Day of our top short-format competition, the Premier Division T20 Blast. Beverley CC were our generous hosts and we thank Acklams Coaches for sponsoring the competition. York delivered a very dominant performance, scoring 220 in their semi-final vs Clifton Alliance, then 247 in the final to defeat Harrogate, to lift the cup at the end of the day. In doing so, they qualified for the area finals of the ECB National Club T20, and travel to the north east on 3rd August to face Burnmoor. The league wishes them well.
Sunday also saw both semi-finals of the Championship Cup played. Dunnington beat South Milford thanks to a 77 from Jack Bolam and 48 from Irosh Samarasooriya. Brandesburton beat Pickering thanks partly to a 73 from Tim Atkin. The two finalists meet on 3rd August at Pickering, with a 3pm start.
In the Edward Readman Memorial Trophy, New Earswick beat Heslington to reach the semi-finals.
The Dave Conner Trophy saw Crossgates reach the final by beating Hull Strikers in a top-of-the-league-table contest.
Finally, in the Wilberfoss Cup, Kelfield beat Middleton & North Dalton in a low scoring thriller to reach the final, where they will play Forge Valley. That final is also at Pickering on August 3rd, and starts at 11am
