Sunday saw the Finals Day of the T20 Plate, the cup competition for ECB Premier Division 2 teams. Easingwold CC were our generous and highly professional hosts. Woodhouse Grange 2s beat Stamford Bridge in the first semi-final and Bridlington just edged out Carlton Towers in the nail-biting last over of the second semi-final. In the final, Casey Rudd of Bridlington stuck in for a proper captain's innings, making 83 not out while the Woodhouse Grange bowling attack took out his batting partners one by one, with Bridlington finishing on 130/6 after 20 overs. However, the second innings saw an astonishing display of batting from Harry Jackson of Woodhouse Grange, who reached 50 from 18 balls and was finally dismissed on 83 from 26 balls. Thanks to this, and ably assisted by Clay Mulgrew (39), Woodhouse reached their target in 8.3 overs to win the trophy. They now progress to the national ECB T20 Plate competition and will travel to Morpeth CC on 3rd August. The league wishes them well.
