ATTIS ECB Yorkshire Premier League North
By Matt Harris

Sunday saw the last YPLN cup match of the 2025 season as Arthington faced Scalby in the Edward Readman Trophy final. This cup competition has been one of the league's largest ever, with 35 entrants.

New Earswick were our hosts and we thank them for their efforts both with the pitch and the catering.

Arthington won the toss and put Scalby in to bat. Arthington then put on an excellent bowling and fielding display, preventing all but two of the Scalby batsmen from reaching double figures, with two wickets apiece for Inamulhaq haq Piran and Naveed Andrabi. For Scalby, Ben Luntley (30) and Gregor Fraser (39) dug deep to get the total to 107.

In response, Arthington's power-hitting opener (and player-of-the-match) Alex O'Neil scored 52 off 28 balls and his colleagues did the rest within 14 overs.

Congratulations to both teams on reaching the final in their first year in YPLN. They both look certain to be promoted to the Championship in 2026 which we are sure they'll enjoy - best of luck to both of them for next year.
