ATTIS ECB Yorkshire Premier League North

The K3 cup, the 40 over competition which is entered by Premier Division teams from both YPLN and YCSPL, saw a thrilling battle between York and Castleford which went down to the wire. York chose to bat first, and saw contributions right across the batting order, with a special mention to Luke Kilby's 57. Set a target of 210 to win, Castleford's Chesney Hughes delivered an impressive 72 runs, with Calum Rowe supporting on 46, but York's bowling attack was too strong and Castleford finished on 198 all out. York now proceed to the semi-finals of the K3 where they will face Wakefield Thornes.

In the YPLN Hundred three quarter finals were played. This is a format we are trialling this year, in which both Premier Division 2 and Championship teams can enter, with Championship teams receiving a 15-run "head start" to their innings when they face a Premier 2 team.

Whitkirk (Championship) travelled to Carlton Towers (Premier Division 2) but found the home team, who are eyeing up promotion to the top tier in 2026, a challenge too far. For Carlton Towers, the opening partnership of Tom Collins and Mark Holmes overtook the first innings total of 122 with 34 balls to spare.

Dunnington travelled to Osbaldwick (both are Championship teams) where Dunnington limited the home team to 95 runs, thanks to three wickets apiece for James Crighton and Seth Bodill. A 49 run knock from Daniel Barrett helped Dunnington finish the game in 64 balls.

Woodhouse Grange 2s (Premier Division 2) travelled to Brandesburton, who are currently top of the Championship East table. A strong Brandesburton bowling attack, including four wickets from Sam Morris, limited Woodhouse Grange to 138 runs, despite some late-innings heroics from Tom Burdett. In response, a 51 from Tim Atkin and a 38 from Harrison Ryan helped Brandesburton reach the winning line with just six balls to spare.

This means that we now know the Finals Day participants for the first ever YPLN Hundred competition, which is being held at Woodhouse Grange on August 24th. There are two Championship teams and two Premier Division 2 teams. In the semi-finals Brandesburton will face Carlton Towers and Dunnington will face Bridlington.

Last week also saw the remaining two quarter-finals of the Division 1 Readman Trophy played. Arthington, who are sweeping all before them in their first year in YPLN, defeated Scarcroft in 14.2 overs, with Naveed Andrabi top scoring on 45. In the other match, Scalby beat Seamer & Irton by just one run after the full 20 overs in a low-scoring thriller, thanks partly to a 57 from Mathew Jones.

The only other cup match was a semi-final in the Division 4/5 Deals Daddy Trophy, with Crossgates 2s travelling to face Dunnington 3s. Dunnington scored an impressive 163 thanks partly to 47 from James Shutt and 54 from Alfie Hodson. However, a 54 from N Prasad K helped Crossgates across the line in the 19th over. This confirms the Deals Daddy final as Stockton & Hopgrove vs Crossgates 2s and this match will be held at 11am on 17th August at Rufforth & Marston CC.
