ATTIS ECB Yorkshire Premier League North

A sunny Sunday 24th August saw the Finals Day of the YPLN Hundred. Woodhouse Grange did an excellent job as our generous hosts and we thank them for their efforts as always.

In the first semi-final Bridlington (Premier Division 2) faced Dunnington (Championship West). Bridlington scored a very impressive 200/7 in their innings thanks to contributions from across their upper-order, with special mention to Jordan Baker (58) and Sam Wragg (48). This would have discouraged most opposition teams, but Dunnington delivered an imperious batting display in the second innings. Jack Bolam (37), Daniel Barrett (50) and Irosh Samarasooriya (76) found the boundary regularly and Dunnington reached their target with 14 balls to spare.

In the other semi-final Carlton Towers (Premier Division 2) faced Brandesburton (Championship East). Brandesburton elected to bat first and put in a determined performance, with Jatin Khurana scoring an important 37. However, Carlton Towers' bowling attack was strong, with Joe Romaniw taking 3 wickets, and Rob Holah and Tom Collins taking 2 apiece. Set a target of 155 Carlton Towers openers Tom Collins and Mark Holmes delivered a partnership of 68, followed by Claus Lotter and Henry Bayston with a partnership of 69 to seal the win.

In the final Dunnington put Carlton Towers in to bat and then delivered an excellent bowling display to limit the potential of their division-leading batting attack. Tom Collins (32), Mark Holmes (45) and Claus Lotter (22) helped get Carlton to a total of 112. Carlton did their best to prevent Dunnington from reaching the target, with another two wickets for Rob Holah, but the batting of Jo Brittain (22) and player-of-the-match Irosh Samarasooriya (33) kept Dunnington on target and they claimed the trophy.

This is the first year that the YPLN Hundred has run, and we didn't know quite what to expect, with Prem 2 teams facing Championship teams, and the use of the 100-ball format. However, the teams seem to have enjoyed the experience, and Championship teams have held their own right throughout the rounds. We'll certainly look at running it again in 2026, after taking feedback from participating teams on what we should do differently, if anything.

One cup final remains and we look forward to an "west vs east" clash of Division 1 titans next Sunday 31st August, as Arthington face Scalby in the Readman Trophy final at New Earswick (start time 2pm).
