Registering Your Players For YPLN

Clubs new to YPLN are reminded that all players must be registered on play-cricket prior to their first appearance in the league. 
Existing member clubs should be aware of the following two deadlines: 
By 10 April 2026 clubs with teams in the top three YPLN divisions [Premier, Premer II & Championship] must ensure that every player from their club who will compete in these divisions is a fully registered member on play-cricket. By 10 April 2027 all clubs must ensure that every player who competes in YPLN is a fully registered member on play-cricket. For guidance on this please contact Simon Hird auditmanager@yplncricket.co.uk

Updating Play-Cricket 
All clubs are required to maintain current and complete contact information for all Officers, Captains, and general club details on their Play-Cricket website at all times. The Name, Email address & contact number are required for the following club officials: Club Chair, Club Secretary, Club Treasurer, Women & Girls Co-ordinator, Club Safeguarding Officer, Junior cricket co-ordinator, All team captains applicable to YPLN, Website Administrator. 
Clubs can select the "hide" option next to the officials' details so they are not visible to the public, while still being accessible to the league. Clubs are encouraged not to hide contact details for captains. 
Captain Details on Play-cricket: Applicable to all clubs Upon the commencement of the first match of each season, the complete and updated details of the captains must be displayed on the Play-Cricket site, and this information must be kept current throughout the entire season. 
Players who have left your Club: Applicable to all clubs Clubs must remove any player from their on-line players’ register once they have left the club. This is applicable YPLN registrations only.

Further Information 
 
Payment Of League Fees [annual subscription] 
All clubs Club will be invoiced by the League for annual subscriptions and YCB affiliation fees.  
These subscriptions must be paid within 14 days of the issue date, but ultimately it is the individual club’s responsibility to ensure that fees are paid by 15 December or the date on the invoice, whichever is the earlier.  
Clubs cannot use the lack of an invoice to avoid payment.

League Meetings 
Annual General Meeting: Applicable to all clubs Notice of the AGM will be sent out at least 21 days in advance of the meeting. Attendance is voluntary, but all clubs must vote in advance by email submission in a process as directed by the league secretary or appointed deputy. 
Other Meetings: Applicable to all clubs These can be called by the League manager or appointed deputy at any time and could for example be ‘Pre-season’ meetings or perhaps an ‘Extraordinary General Meeting’. Club officials will be notified whether or not it is mandatory to attend.

Fixtures 
Fixtures: Applicable to all teams In exceptional circumstances, matches may be played on a ground other than that specified in the fixture list only with prior League approval. The alternative ground and facilities must fulfil the criteria set down by the Management Board. All re-scheduled matches must be completed prior to the last day of the normal League fixture calendar. 
Re-Scheduling Fixtures: Applicable to Premier, Premier II, & Championship Divisions Only Matches may only be rescheduled under extraordinary circumstances which include participation in a national competition or unavailability of the playing ground due to a commitment to a county match. Such rescheduling must be approved by the League Manager (or their designated representative) and must also be agreed upon by the opposing team. If the opposition decline to re-schedule the fixture the club requesting must find an alternative ground that meets the ground & facility requirement for that particular division. Clubs looking to re-schedule fixtures must ask the opposing club, not present them with a fait accompli. 
Re-Scheduling Fixtures: Applicable to Division One & Below In the First Division and below matches may be re-scheduled only after agreement has been reached with the League Manager and opposing club. All re-scheduled matches must be completed prior to the last day of the normal League fixture calendar. 
Checking Fixtures: Applicable to all clubs Clubs are required to inspect all fixtures for any irregularities at the time of issuance. Any anomalies identified must be communicated to the League Fixture Manager within a maximum of 14 days from the date of issuance. Any issues discovered after this 14-day period shall be the responsibility of the respective club(s) to resolve.

Cricket Balls 
Purchasing Cricket Balls: All clubs must purchase a minimum of 6 cricket balls per team from the league approved supplier. In 2025 this is Dukes, with purchases to be made direct from the supplier. The league will forward a link in early January each to clubs for cricket ball online purchasing. 
New Cricket Ball Useage: Applicable to all clubs in D1 & above. In the ECB Premier, Premier II, Championship, and first divisions each team is required to utilise a new Dukes cricket ball relevant to respective divisions. New Cricket Ball Useage: Applicable to all clubs in D2 & below. For Division Two and below, each team must supply a ball that, while not necessarily new, must be a quartered leather ball that complies in all respects with the M.C.C. Laws of Cricket and must be classified as a Grade 'A' ball approved by the Management Board before use. 
Spare match ball: Applicable to all clubs Each team must provide a spare ball which conforms to the specification operative within that Division. 
Safeguarding 
All member clubs should be aware that Safeguarding is taken very seriously, and transgressions are dealt with under the General Conduct disciplinary process. For further information please email the YPLN Safeguarding Team safeguarding@yplncricket.co.uk  
Appointment of CSO: Applicable to all clubs Every club is obligated to designate a Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO) who has been officially approved and is in full compliance with the current requirements set forth by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This includes possessing a valid ECB Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance. The appointed CSO will be responsible for ensuring that all ECB safeguarding requirements are implemented and adhered to within the club. Furthermore, the details of the CSO must be regularly updated and maintained on the club’s Play-Cricket website. 
Captains & Umpires: Applicable to all clubs All Captains and umpires who regularly participate must undergo an ECB DBS check before the beginning of the season, or at the time of their appointment. It is the responsibility of the club to ensure that all relevant personnel are in full compliance with this requirement. 
Safeguarding Declaration: Applicable to all clubs. All clubs are required to complete and return a Safeguarding declaration (or accreditation agreement depending on division) within the timescales set by the league 
ECB Safe Hands Management System: Applicable to all clubs All member clubs must be fully complaint on the ECB Safe Hands Management System, prior to 24th March each year. 
Grounds & Facilities 
Ground & Facility Inspections: Applicable to all clubs A Ground Inspection Team will visit all grounds whom the Grounds & Facilities Committee feel have dropped below the required criteria and will be empowered to suspend grounds which are considered to be unfit. 
Further Inspections: Applicable to all clubs During the course of the season further inspections will be made if clubs have received adverse ground marks or unfavourable reports. These inspections are to help clubs with any issues that they may have.

Live Streaming of Matches 
Live Streaming: Applicable to all clubs Clubs who wish to Photograph, Live Stream or Record matches (or parts of matches) must follow the guidance given in the document ‘ECB Live Streaming Guidance’. 
Live Streaming During the Game: Applicable to all clubs The act of taking photographs, live streaming, or recording games, or any portion of such games, by any player or official engaged in the game on the playing field is expressly forbidden. 
Responsible Live Streaming: Applicable to all clubs While the league endorses and encourages the use of live streaming for matches, each individual club is responsible for ensuring that they, as well as anyone else wishing to live stream, adhere to the live streaming guidelines set forth by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). 
Individual Rights: Applicable to all clubs Any club or individual participating in the game has the right to formally request that a match not be live-streamed. This request must be honoured, or else the league may impose disciplinary actions. To ensure compliance, such requests should be submitted via email to the league Safeguarding Officer at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled game along with a copy to Chair of the opposing club, as well as to the League at administration@yplncricket.co.uk.Requests submitted after the 48-hour window, including those made at the toss, are strongly discouraged; however, they are still required to be followed. Umpires are tasked with verifying whether the match is being live-streamed during the toss but bear no responsibility for either facilitating or preventing live streaming. 
Database of Clubs Live Streaming: Applicable to all clubs The league will maintain a centralised database of clubs that express a desire to live stream their events.This database will be accessible for public viewing on the league's official website.Clubs that engage in live streaming without prior notification to the league will be subject to disciplinary measures. To register, clubs must submit their request via email to administration@yplncricket.co.uk. 
Match Teas 
General: Applicable to all clubs Host clubs must ensure that they supply sufficient refreshments (teas) for two complete teams, as well as for umpires, scorers, and coaches, if applicable. Clubs must respect the differing cultural diversities amongst participants when providing teas. 
Payment For Teas: Applicable to all clubs In the ECB Premier Division & Premier Division II the cost of teas will be borne by the host club. 
Umpires 
ECB Premier: Two umpires will be appointed from the Yorkshire Premier League Umpires’ Association to each ECB Premier Division match. Each team will be responsible for paying one umpire prior to the resumption of play after tea. Once umpires have arrived at the ground the full fee will be payable, irrespective of whether or not play takes place. 
ECB Premier II: Two umpires will be appointed from the Yorkshire Premier League North Umpires’ Panel to matches in ECB Premier II. Fees for umpires from the YPLN Panel will be collected from clubs and paid to the umpires after the end of the season. There will be a fixed fee, determined annually by the Board and a mileage allowance. 
Championship: One umpire will be appointed to matches in the Championship, with the Home Team providing the other umpire, unless the management board advises otherwise. Fees for umpires from the YPLN Panel will be collected from clubs and paid to the umpires after the end of the season. There will be a fixed fee, determined annually by the Board and a mileage allowance. 
Other Divisions: Where umpires are not appointed from either Umpires’ Panel, clubs will be responsible for providing a non-playing umpire for each of their teams and must satisfy themselves as to the ability of such umpires. Such umpires will umpire for the whole match. If there are no non-playing umpires, then players will umpire at both ends. 
Payment for Panel Umpires: Applicable to teams below Premier II where panel umpires are provided Payment for Panel Umpires: Clubs with teams in the divisions covered by the Umpires’ Panel [not including ECB Premier Division] are required to pay a further amount in respect of their expenses This amount must be forwarded to the Treasurer within 14 days of the date of issue of the invoice. Clubs cannot use the lack of an invoice to avoid payment.

Submission of Results, Scorecards and Captains Reports 
Match Results: Applicable to all teams All home teams are responsible for submitting the result [league & cups] via play-cricket by 9.30pm on the day of the match. If the match is on a neutral ground [cup final etc] the submitting of the match result will be the responsibility of the winning side. 
Match Scorecards: ECB Premier, Premier II & Championship (including related Cup competitions All home teams are responsible for uploading a fully completed and correct scorecard by 9.30pm on the day of the match. If the match is on a neutral ground [cup final etc] the submitting of the match result will be the responsibility of the winning side. 
Match Scorecards: Division One & Below Match Scorecard (including related Cup competitions) Home teams are responsible for submitting full detailed scorecard onto play-cricket by 9.30pm on the Tuesday following the match. If the match is on a neutral ground [cup final etc] the submitting of the match result will be the responsibility of the winning side. 
Scorers & Umpires: Applicable to all teams All clubs are required to ensure that the name of both scorers and both umpires are named on each and every scorecard. If there is not a scorer or umpire present add in either / or no umpire present or nor scorer present. 
Captains Marks: ECB Premier Clubs and teams are required to ensure that the marking of grounds and umpires via ‘Who’s the umpire’ is undertaken by the team captain or a responsible person using the appropriate guidelines by 17.00 on the Tuesday following the match. 
Captains Marks: ECB Premier II & Below Clubs and teams are required to ensure that the marking of grounds and umpires [where appropriate] via play-cricket is undertaken by the team captain or a responsible person using the appropriate guidelines by 17.00 on the Tuesday following the match. 
 
Merit Table 
The merit table is used as a benchmark to ascertain where clubs and their facilities stand in relation to other clubs and as a guide to approve a team’s promotion to a higher division where applicable. In the past this has just been one table, but for 2025 and onwards this will be broken down into different divisional levels so teams can be measured on a like for like basis. At the end of the season an overall ‘top ten’ will be produced with the winner be awarded the Clive Kay Trophy. 
Criteria Marking: Applicable to all teams Clubs will be assessed and marked with regard to facilities, ground marks, submission of results, scorecards, captain’s reports, match teas discipline, and sportsmanship marks where applicable. This list is not exhaustible 
Facility Marks: Applicable to all clubs Where clubs and teams believe that their facility mark is too low [or high!] they must contact the Ground & Facility Manager who will send out a survey form for the club to complete and return. The same applies to clubs who have improved any part of their facilities or even moved to a different ground. 
Ongoing: Applicable to all teams Throughout the season, the League will monitor clubs and will collaborate with those identified as underperforming in order to help them improve their standing to an acceptable level. 
End of Season Review: Applicable to all teams At the conclusion of each competitive season, the Management Board shall conduct a comprehensive review of the qualifications of all teams that have not met the eligibility criteria to participate at each level for the ensuing season. 
 
Trophies 
Presentation of Trophies: League officials will attempt to present trophies to winners of the top divisions where possible. 
Returning Trophies: All trophies, having been suitably engraved, must be returned to the League by 1st August, or when requested by a League Official in order to be available for presentation to the new winners. It is totally a club’s responsibility to return any relevant trophy, and not for league officials to have to collect them. 
Safekeeping of Trophies: Any club or individual that wins a generic League trophy is responsible for keeping it safe and will be required to reimburse for any loss or damage that occurs. Winners are required to obtain sufficient insurance coverage for the trophy and must ensure that it is correctly engraved. 
 
Discipline 
General Conduct Regulations: Applicable to all clubs The General Conduct Regulations of the League will operate in all matches under the jurisdiction of the League and clubs are required to ensure that all players, officials and members act within these rules at all times. Reporting Incidents: Applicable to all clubs All disciplinary incidents should be reported only to the League Disciplinary Officer and not to any other League Officials. Reporting An Incident 
Player Bans: Applicable to all clubs Disciplinary, EDI or Safeguarding decisions involving player bans or suspensions issued from within other International Cricket Council member countries will be recognised and applied. General Conduct Sanctions 
Protests & Complaints: Applicable to all clubs Any club lodging a protest [other than a disciplinary issue] against another club or other issue should send such protest to the Disciplinary Officer only by email within 24 hours of the end of the match unless there are exceptional circumstances.
