Geoff Thornburn was well known in East Yorkshire, having played for several clubs in the county including a long spell at the long gone Harpham & Gembling where he was captain for a number of years. 

 

In recent seasons he watched and supported Brandesburton CC where he had once been a player and umpire. he had also turned out for Leven Cricket Club and Hornsea Cricket Club. 

 

He was especially generous with his time taking some of Hornsea's visiting Australian cricketers on trips around the local area.
