GUIDE TO ARRANGING CUP MATCHES (excl T20 Blast, T20 Plate & all finals)
Please send any queries, or requests for permission to play a specific player, to assistant@yplncricket.co.uk
The team in the “upper” or “first” position in the cup fixture on Play Cricket will be the Home team and the team in the “lower” or “second” position will be the Away team.
As an incentive for teams to play fixtures as early as possible the Cup Manager will, in most but not all cases, make the first team to qualify for a cup fixture the Home team (if a team does not wish to be the Home team they should ask the Cup Manager to reverse the fixture).
The Cup Manager will publish two dates for each round of each cup, a “Suggested” and a “Deadline” date (usually one week later, except where bank holidays intervene). The Suggested date will be the one set up as default in Play Cricket, but this does not mean that either team is obliged to play on this date. All dates can be viewed on the Cups page via the menu above.
Championship & Divisions 1-5 T20 Cups
The Suggested Date for each match will be a Sunday at 2pm.
However, matches can be played on any mutually convenient Sunday (AM or PM). If both captains wish to play on a weekday evening this is of course fine too.
If either team cannot play on the Suggested date & time (or a home team’s ground is not available) then they must notify the opposition captain of this as soon as possible, and no later than 10 days before Suggested Date (i.e. 2pm on Thursday of the prior week). The captains must then negotiate with each other to arrange an alternative fixture. This can be earlier or later than the “Suggested” date, but must be no later than the “Deadline” date.
Hundred Cup & Plate
The Suggested Date for each match will be a Friday at 6.30pm.
However, matches can be played on any mutually convenient weekday evening. If both captains wish to play on a Sunday this is of course fine too.
If either team cannot play on the Suggested date & time (or a home team’s ground is not available) then they must notify the opposition captain of this as soon as possible, and no later than 10 days before the Suggested Date (i.e. 6.30pm on Tuesday of the prior week). The captains must then negotiate with each other to arrange an alternative fixture. This can be earlier or later than the “Suggested” date, but must be no later than the “Deadline” date.
Giving your opponent less than 10 days notice that you cannot play on the Suggested date may be treated as a concession.
If an alternative date/time is agreed then the teams must either change the fixture details in Play Cricket themselves, or ask the Cup Manager to do so. Once the captains have agreed on a date (either the Suggested date or an alternative date) this cannot be changed without the agreement of both captains.
Where captains cannot agree a revised date, the Cup Manager should be notified immediately by emailing assistant@yplncricket.co.uk - ignoring the problem until the scheduled date has passed may result in both teams being eliminated.
Captains who ignore emails from their opposition and/or the Cup Manager, or make little attempt to find a compromise date/time, are liable to see their teams eliminated.
If both captains confirm a date/time for a fixture, and one captain then attempts to change the fixture for any reason, the other team can ask the Cup Manager to treat this as a concession. This request may or may not be granted, depending on the circumstances. Attempts to change an agreed fixture date/time with fewer than ten days to go, for any reason other than weather, are very likely to be treated as concessions.
