GUIDE TO ARRANGING CUP MATCHES (excl T20 Blast, T20 Plate & all finals)

Please send any queries to assistant@yplncricket.co.uk

The team in the “upper” or “first” position in the cup fixture on Play Cricket will be the Home team and the team in the “lower” or “second” position will be the Away team.

As an incentive for teams to play fixtures as early as possible the Cup Manager will, in most but not all cases, make the first team to qualify for a cup fixture the Home team (if a team does not wish to be the Home team they should ask the Cup Manager to reverse the fixture).

The Cup Manager will publish a deadline date for each round of the cup (these dates can be viewed here), which is the final day that matches in each round must be played by. Fixtures will be created in Play Cricket on dates earlier than the deadline date. Team captains must confirm with their opponent whether they are happy to play on the fixture date in Play Cricket, or need to arrange a mutually convenient alternative date. See below for this process.

Championship, Edward Readman, Dave Conner, Wilberfoss & Midgley Cups
The Cup Manager will create each fixture on a selected Sunday at 2pm and notify teams that this has been done (teams should also monitor Play Cricket themselves).
As soon as fixtures are published, both captains must contact each other proactively to confirm whether or not they can play on the date showing in Play Cricket. Contact details can be found by clicking on a team's name in the Play Cricket fixture. It is recommended that captains contact at least two people (e.g. captain and club secretary) from their opposition, to reduce the risk of an email being missed.
If either team cannot play on the fixture date created by the Cup Manager (or a home team’s ground is not available) then the captains must agree a new date and time. This must happen as soon as possible, and no later than 10 days before the date showing in Play Cricket (i.e. 2pm on Thursday of the prior week), unless the Cup Manager sets an earlier deadline for confirming fixtures. The agreed date must be on or before the deadline date for the round which can be viewed in the cup calendar.
Matches can be played on any mutually convenient Sunday (AM or PM). If both captains wish to play on a weekday evening this is of course fine too.
Where the captains agree a different date/time for a fixture than that showing in Play Cricket they must inform the Cup Manager on assistant@yplncricket.co.uk so that the details can be changed (teams can also change the fixture details in Play Cricket themselves, but must still contact the Cup Manager if panel umpires are provided for the cup in question so that umpires can be rearranged)
Where captains cannot agree a revised date, the Cup Manager should be notified immediately by emailing assistant@yplncricket.co.uk - ignoring the problem until the scheduled date has passed may result in both teams being eliminated.

Hundred Cup & Plate
The Cup Manager will create each fixture on a selected Friday at 6.30pm and notify teams that this has been done (teams should also monitor Play Cricket themselves).

Captains who ignore emails from their opposition and/or the Cup Manager, or make little attempt to find a compromise date/time, are liable to see their teams eliminated.

Once captains confirm a fixture with each other they should only request to change it if circumstances make it impossible for them to honour the agreed date/time - for example, if another fixture is arranged at the same time - and this is only permitted if there are at least 10 days to go to the fixture. Attempts by one team to change a fixture date/time with fewer than ten days to go are very likely to be treated as concessions. If your opponent attempts to change a fixture that has previously been agreed, and you do not wish to agree to this, please contact assistant@yplncricket.co.uk to discuss the matter.
